2010 Front Engine Dragster Week 2010 04 06
REMEMBER TO CLICK PICTURES FOR MORE DETAIL / LARGER PICTURE
Made the pilgrimage to Indiana again and will be returning again next week.
The chassis is off the jig. Some of the straight body panels are in the works for next week. Aluminum has been ordered.
The brackets for the pedals, shifter, steering, chute release are all tacked in. We moved the shifter forward two inches and wacked two inches of the steering column. Raise the “Floor” by three inches. Those changes made the cockpit very comfortable. |
|
Kidney bars are all welded in. |
|
Brackets for the rear end are in, the double shear tabs will be in shortly.
Top on the curly cage bit is welded up, but not to the chassis yet.“curly cage bit ” was taken from http://hre.com/cgi-bin/discus/board-auth.cgi?file=/11729/18643.html&lm=1270684783 |

Yep it is out of the jig and on horses. I do wish it was longer (wheel base is 200″) but with the chute pack body it would not fit in the trailer. With the 200″ wheel base it will fit in the garage without cutting a hole in the rear wall. The wife will be happy about that.
There is still some welding left here, but the detail of sheaving the chassis tubes to spread the forces is outstanding.
The slightly bent thingy on the front should be coming soon.
Motor plates are made up, the engine from my garage will be making the trip with me to Indiana this next time. I need to get into the garage and clean it up. Adjustments being made to the shifter location. |
