This says 0565563 YZ so…………………………………9799914 1970 400 or 1970 400 Ram Air III (4Bolt)0565563 YZ 400/360 H.O. or (Ram Air III) 400/370 hp I have been told that this is a 1970 400 engine 370 Ram Air III
48 1970, 400 MT Ram Air III 325 HP valves 2.11/1.77 10.5 compression ratio
Suggestions I have received on how to get more HP out of the engine.The Edelbrock heads use round port headers.So, you would have to get them if you use Edelbrock heads. They make them for Firebirds.The factory Quadrajet in 78 was 800 CFM. 🙂It won’t be too much.
With your 26″ slicks and figuring a 6500 RPM finish line, you would be going 120 MPH.
That would be a low 11 second 1/4 if you make enough HP.
The roller cam would depend on what you end up using for the rest of the combo.
With the 48 heads, use a cam around .550″ lift, 112º LSA figures.
Comp Cams has some good ones.
For a solid lifter cam, about the same numbers with the 48 head.

Depending on how much you want to spend on this engine, a roller cam would be the way to go.
Then you would need the Edelbrock aluminum heads, etc. 🙂
The 48 heads will work good, use some good valve springs and possibly mill the spring seats for a taller spring.
They will make the compression ratio around 11 to 1 with a .030″ mill.
The Edelbrock Victor intake is one of the best for the Pontiac.
The 700 CFM you have may be good.
I’d use a 800/850 if you can find them. (4780/4781 List number on the Holley)
The 4.11’s would be better for racing.
It should help your ET’s a bunch.
