Made the pilgrimage to Indiana again.
Lots of progress to report, Mid May Delivery date still looks good. I took many shots, and whittled them down to the ones below. I wish I had more space on this site to show more, and that I could put more on a page but then the pages would load slowly for those with dial up would suffer. The pictures below are a mixture of ones that I have taken and ones that Roo Man has taken.
We will start at the front.
The front axle has been mounted up, Radius rods are in place, shop wheels and tires are bolted on, Steering linkage brackets are in place.
Detail of radius rod mount to chassis
Fuel tank has been built, and installed.
Fuel Pump and filter are mounted.
Fire Bottle brackets are installed
Front and rear engine plates have been built and installed. The water pump installation is still in the process. Pontiac has offset heads, and has a unusual way of routing the water coming out of the pump.
Note the routing holes in the uprights in the chassis to route cables and wires in.
Rear of the chassis is coming along nicely, Rear end has been mounted in double shear, and diagonal braces have been installed for Top Fuel Chassis certification.
Note in this picture you also see that the shifter has been mounted.
Enlarge this picture to see the double shear tabs that hold the rear end in place.
Floating hubs have been installed, axle is not yet in, gears have not yet been chosen.
Bottom and side panels are all but complete. Only the right side is shown here.
This is the style of the rear wheels (this is my actual wheel).
