It has been awhile since I have done an update under the dragster category. There actually has been a lot going on behind the scenes and I will have to do a couple of updates to get caught up.
Took another step towards 7.0 with the
agreement on the purchase of these used rims.

Work has started in earnest to put the dragster back together! The garage has been cleaned and all the junk that gathers when something sits has been moved away.
The decision has been made to run 8.0 again this year (we might still try and run 7.5 as we strengthen the engine to take more HP, and if we blow it up the 7.0 engine is sitting in the wings and is close to being finished).
A tough decision.
That means running in the same class
as last year which combines 10.0, 9.5, 9.0, 8.5, and 8.0 Makes for a big class and worst yet when you come up against a slower vehicle you have to sit at the light while that car gets a head start down the track. Sitting there at the tree is really tough. We never ran another 8.0 vehicle all last year.
I could not purchase the gasket that
goes between the remote oil filter and the engine block so I had to make one.
The biggest time consumption was having to run out and purchase a set of hollow punches to make nice crisp holes.
Pretty straight forward (I will not tell you
I made two before I got one I liked).
A little cutting and punching on the lines, yielded a pretty nice gasket. The punch for the oil was not large enough so I worked my way around until the hole matched the port.
It always amazes me how many tools
are needed to do a simple job.
Removed the plugs from the side of the block and installed the adapter. Why don’t I just use 90 degree fittings to route the lines? There is not enough room between the block and the rail on the dragster.
Organized the nuts and bolts so I can
find them when the assemble starts
Cleaned the section of the dragster
that the engine lives in (also inspected for cracks).
Cleaned up the front section of the
dragster and inspected for cracks. Polished the recovery tank, rerouted some lines to clean up the “look”. I should be able to get the radiator and fire bottles installed tomorrow.
Moved further back and cleaned and
inspected the next section of the chassis. Removed and polished the battery tray. Rerouted the cable for the fire bottle release.
That was it for today.
