I know this is to be a race car, but I just cannot help myself in that I want it to look good also. I’m tiring top keep the “same” look to the front sub frame as I have developed on the rear. Next is the front drive shaft loop.
Now this is truly a design maker or breaker. Rear wheel wells. A true old school gasser would have round wheel wells with the tires sticking out of them. I wanted to try and copy the same shape as the front wheel well as I just do not like the round wheel well. We did not back half the frame and hind sight says that may have been a mistake, but this is my first gasser and I wanted something to show for the work that I have done here at the Hot Rod Institute. So with the size tires and wheels I have they are going to stick outside the wheel well, but I will try and give the illusion that they are stock wheel wells.
So I made a template to follow the shape of the front wheel well. It sort of looks like only the rear wheel opening will be higher.
I took the plunge and cut it out.
Now I need to build a lip so that it will have that stock appearance
