I got a tip and went to visit a gentleman in Clearance NY. His basement is stuffed with Jeep parts. Lots of good stuff, but no great deals, and let me clarify that, he has good stuff for sale and is willing to sell it, but knows it’s value. I do not think I got raked over the coals, but I did pay top dollar for the value of the items I purchased. So I purchased one seat, a roll bar cover, and a complete carpet set
The carpet is in tact, but pretty worn out. I will have to compare each piece with what I have and pick the best and put that in the best pieces. This carpet is dried out and thin.
The main reason I am looking for carpet is the original owner left a spot light on facing the carpet and melted a hole in it. What I am thinking is I will pull the carpet, find a piece that is up under the dash and take it to a carpet store and have them cut a patch, and hot tape the patch in the hole. I will then have a complete set to sell.
The best pieces will remain in the Jeep
I also purchased a seat. One of the mounting holes in the frame is rusted out and there is a small cut in the cover. The plan is to take this to an upholster shop, have the seat cover removed from my frame, have the seat cover removed from the frame I just bought. Have the upholster plastic weld the cut, and install the cover on my good frame. I will weld in a patch on the frame with the rotted corner and see if the upholster can plastic weld the problems on my seat cover and put my old seat cover on the frame I purchased and sell that.
New seat to the right, rusted out mounting hole lower left, small cut lower right
This is the seat I am looking to replace, and it’s problems
I think this is the find, it is an original roll bar cover which appears to have never been installed. I paid big bucks for this and really want to put it on the Jeep NOW.
So the question is can I. I have the hard top on now. I know I would have to remove it but what do I do about the center support on the roll bar for the roof? I’m I not supposed to put the pad on while the hard top is in place?, Do I just go over the support with the pad and cushion the pad between the support and cover and again cushion the cover between the roof and pad? OR… remove the support, drill a hole in the pad, and install the support through the pad and the cover
For my Christmas gift, my son Arthur gave me a present of rubbing out the Jeep. It came out VERY nice.
